Instructions
Cook chicken and cut into pieces. {Grammie says: I usually cook 4 or 5 chicken breasts (simmer for about 20 minutes). I have cooked a whole chicken and pulled the meat from the bone and used that.}
Cook and drain broccoli, and cut into pieces. Set aside.
Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl to create the sauce.
In a casserole dish, layer the broccoli, chicken, and then sauce.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
After removing from the oven, top with croutons made from the slices of bread sauted in butter.
Notes
We like to serve this over rice (yummm...). It's a definite comfort food, especially if you add the croutons and rice. If you want to keep it healthier, you can leave off the croutons and instead of rice, serve a salad on the side.
