Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend

I usually have pumpkin pie spice on hand, because that’s the kind of gal I am. But did you know you can make it? And that it’s really easy to make? This homemade pumpkin pie spice is a fantastic recipe to have in your pantry, especially when fall rolls around and you need all the pumpkin things all the time!

How to Make Pumpkin Pie Spice

Pumpkin pie spice gets its name from, well, pumpkin pie! But as you probably know, you can use it in so many recipes. The thing I like about this version is that you can blend the spices exactly to your liking.

This particular recipe includes cinnamon, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, allspice, and cloves. Some recipes don’t include allspice or ginger, so you can opt to leave those out if you prefer.

This is a quick, cheap, and easy spice blend that you can make in minutes and use in all kinds of recipes!

Recipes that Use Pumpkin Spice

If you’re looking for some recipes to whip up with your newly made batch of pumpkin pie spice, might I recommend these tasty pumpkin protein pancakes? If you’re looking for something sweeter (and, to be honest, not healthy in the slightest), this Pumpkin Pie Butter is amazing (let’s just call it like it is, it’s basically pumpkin pie-flavored icing that I bring out for the holidays).

You can also make your own PSL with this spice mix, or any of these pumpkin-inspired drinks.

And don’t forget to check out this big collection of healthy pumpkin recipes – there are lots of ways to use pumpkin pie spice in these!

How long will it last in the pantry?

This recipe makes about 6 tablespoons of pumpkin pie spice (for the sake of the nutritional data in the recipe card, I call one serving 1 teaspoon). You can make this recipe in larger batches, too. Just double (or triple, or more) the ingredients. Store unused amounts in an airtight container in your pantry for up to 6 months.

Something else to love about this spice blend? It costs just pennies to make, and you probably have all if not most of the ingredients in your pantry already. Your budget will love this simple recipe, too!
