Update: This post is a few year’s old – my youngest just finished Kinder! But it’s still one of my most popular posts, and we use these first day of school printables every year – enjoy!
Eeeeek! My oldest is starting kindergarten this year. Kind of a big deal around here!
So OF COURSE I will be making him take excessive amounts of pictures on his first day of school, and OF COURSE I wanted to make him a cute little sign that he could hold on the first day of school every.single.year until he graduates high school (I’m sure he’ll be a great sport about it, right?!). And then, I have a three-year-old starting pre-k in the fall, and I didn’t want her to be left out, soo…I made her one, too.
And these First Day of School printables are yours to print out and use, too! 🙂
(Be sure to get the matching Last Day of School printables here, too)
You could (in theory) print one out and use it for 12 years. Just frame it and fill in the grade and teacher info with a dry-erase marker over the glass. Of course, I couldn’t find a dry-erase marker when I needed one, so I wrote directly on the page…and that would be fine too! You don’t need a frame. Print out several and just fill in the info and have your kid hold it – no need to be fancy!
Just click on the images below to download the printable (or printables!) of your choice.
If you use these, send me a picture – I’ll share on Facebook and Twitter! 🙂

So adorable & another year older. Mine is going to her first year of high school!! Thanks for sharing at the Inspiration Spotlight party. Shared.
Love the first one so much! Thank you for the free printable, now my boys will actually have something cute to hold, instead of their ugly old green chalkboard (not vintage like you are thinking). Thanks again, great idea
Carrie, Thank you so much for offering these for free! I downloaded them. That’s the firs step. Now to get my printer to work…
You’re so welcome, April! Hopefully you can get the printer working! 🙂
These are beautiful school printables. Thank you so much for sharing this one. 🙂
These are so super cute Carrie!
I just wanted to let you know that you were featured as a Rockstar at last week’s Creativity Unleashed party! Congrats, and thanks for sharing at our party! http://www.practicallyfunctional.com/creativity-unleashed-183
