My Favorite Romance Novels (that are totally NOT cheesy)

My Favorite Romance Novels (that are totally NOT cheesy)

I love a good love story. You know the kind…the kind that sticks with you long after the book is done. That kind that makes you wish there were more pages. The kind that makes you miss the characters for days after you finish reading the book.

I thought I’d compile a list of some of my favorite love stories for you here. I’ve read all these books, and I love them all for different reasons.

Best Love Stories

Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon – If you ask me what my favorite book is, I will tell you Outlander. But really, I’ll mean the entire Outlander series, which currently encompasses eight books and nearly 7,000 pages. This series isn’t fo the faint of heart…it’s graphic and violent in parts. But it’s also beautifully-written, engaging, and will suck you right in. Get ready to fall in love with Jamie and Claire.

Side note: these are some of the only books I’ve read more than once. I’m currently re-reading the series.

You can read about the time I waited in line for nearly three hours to met Diana Gabaldon here.

The Time Traveler’s Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger – This is another book I’ve read twice. The unconventional story of Henry, who has a genetic disorder that causes him to spontaneously travel through time, and Clare, a young girl who grows into the woman he loves. It sounds silly, but it’s not.

Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte – When I was twelve-years-old, my grandmother took me to England, and we visited the home of Emily and Charlotte Bronte. She bought me Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. But it wasn’t until I was much older that I finally read them. I loved them both! I think you’ll love the characters will be able to relate to the story…even though it’s many year’s past.

Pride & Prejudice, by Jane Austen – I think everyone should read this book. It’s fun, it’s sweet, it’s a good chance to pretend I should have been born in the 19th century (oh, but don’t worry…I know better – be sure to check out this book if you think the 19th centure is for you).

The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green – Have you read this one yet? This is the story of Hazel and Augustus, two Teenagers With Cancer. I thought I knew where this book was going, but…I didn’t. Witty, likable, and easy-to-read, this one hit me by surprise.

I needed book ideas, perfect timing! I just ordered from Thrift Books again, but had a hard time figuring out what I was actually looking for. Still love them…free delivery over $10, and they arrive quickly. Need to do another order now!

The Outlander series has been on my “to read” list forever! Why on earth haven’t I read it yet? Promising myself that it’ll be the next book(s) I read! Great list, Carrie!

The fault in our stars- such a great book. I read it a few years ago and as soon as I finished sobbing I noticed the movie was on tv also, a million more tears. Love!

I loved The Fault in our Stars… I also read If I Stay and loved that too!

I needed this! I’m excited to add them to my list.

Great review – I have to look into these books!

Francine Rivers’ writing is exquisite. Loved her characters immediately, and never wanted to put it down. Also had unpredictable turns throughout.

I LOVE the Fault in our Stars. I could not get into the Time Travelers Wife. I will have to check out some of the others. I have realized I need to read more fiction books that are fun and a break from life for me. I read a lot of self-help, homeschool, parenting, Christian books and stuff like that. But I need more breaks in life!!
