This summer, something kind of magical has happened in our household. My son started to love books.

I’m a huge reader. I have always loved to read, and as a kid I always had my nose buried in a book (and as an adult, I blame *way* too many late nights on good books!). I shouldn’t be surprised that my kid loves to read, but…I kind of am.

Printable Bookmarks for BoysFor the last two years now, I’ve been working with Jack on his required reading for school. He dreaded it. He never wanted to read with me, even though I could see that his reading was improving. So when school got out this summer, I just kind of let it go and didn’t push the books. At a friend’s recommendation, though, I bought him a book called Diary of a Minecraft Zombie.

He devoured it. He read it in one sitting, and then read it again.

So I bought him more books, all about subjects he loves (mostly, Minecraft, World War II, and old war aircraft). He’ll tell you that he doesn’t want to read, but in his bed he’s got a stash of five or six books that he reads over and over again. So with this newfound love for reading, I thought I’d ask Jack to help with this post.

Here’s a list of books for second grade boys that you child *probably* hasn’t read yet.
