We juice sporadically. To be honest, I would juice every day if it weren’t such a huge pain in my rear. The main reason we do it is to get rid of fruits or veggies before they go bad, or for the kids. I feel good about juicing for the kids, and it’s given me a unique way to get veggies into their diet – and they love helping make the juice. And that includes this carrot juice for kids recipe!
Recently, I made them some carrot juice (actually, it was carrot, pineapple, mango and orange) that they guzzled down in seconds. The main ingredient was carrots, so I felt like a Motherhood Champion for getting carrot juice into my kids! They even begged for more. I’m sharing this juice recipe for kids below, and next week I’ll share some tips I’ve learned about juicing for kids (especially picky ones!).
Carrot Juice for Kids
This recipe made an entire pitcher (about 40 oz.) of juice, so it was enough for the whole family. Fresh juice like this doesn’t really keep well, so plan on drinking it all fresh. I made this batch for the whole family – just cut down on ingredients for a smaller amount (the good thing about juicing is that it’s not rocket science, so you can’t really get it wrong).
What are the ingredients in carrot juice for kids?
Carrots – 12 large ones, peeled (I am too lazy to peel the carrots when I make juice for myself, but for the kids, I always peel them – it makes for sweeter juice)
Pineapple – 1, cut into large chunks
Mango – 1 or 2
Oranges – 2 large or 3 smallers ones
You can also add a couple handfuls of spinach without changing the taste, but this will change the color of the juice to a brownish/greenish color – so just keep that in mind when juicing for picky kids!
Carrot Juice for Kids
Ingredients
- 12 carrots peeled
- 1 pineapple cut into chunks
- 1 mango peeled
- 2 oranges peeled
Optional
- 2 c spinach
Instructions
- Toss everything in the juicer and you're done! Stir well before serving to mix it all up.You can also add a couple handfuls of spinach as you juice without changing the taste, but this will change the color of the juice to a brownish/greenish color - so just keep that in mind when juicing for picky kids!
Notes
Nutrition
Just toss it all in your juicer and you’re good to go! I always stir it before giving it to the kids to make sure it’s all mixed. When I started juicing for the kids, I’d make them orange juice and add just a carrot or two – they couldn’t tell the difference. Now, they know I am making it mostly from carrots and they still love it. I can even add some spinach and they’ll still drink it!
Do you juice?
This looks really yummy, Carrie!
I only peel my carrots on occasion too. Some days I’m feeling it; others not so much. Technically, the outside of the carrot has more fiber in it and so is healthier. I learned that from an old roommate.
Maybe I should get a juicer to help my husband eat more veggies.
I’ve heard that it’s healthier to leave on the outside, too. I can taste a difference in the peeled vs. unpeeled carrot juice, so I peel it when I give it to my kids. But I do try to eat them unpeeled, myself!
Sounds awesome! I’ve got to find a way to sneak more fruits and veggies into my kids and myself….and any into my husband!
This is great for everyone!
I feel the same way about juicing – love it in theory, pulling the entire darn machine apart to wash it is another matter entirely! Smoothies are easier on a day to day basis – and you’d be surprised at how many veggies you can hide in a smooth soup or pasta sauce!!
P.s. Your daughter’s name is great!!
It’s such a pain! And why we usually do smoothies, too. I have got to get my oldest eating soup…that would be a great way to get some veggies into him, for sure!
Hi there,
I know this is a old post but I am going to try anyways. I have a 2 year old and I make his juice. He loves it and so do I. Is there any veggies to steer clear of? This am I made apple carrot and sweet potato and he seems to like it. Just wondering if the potato may be too much for his little tummy?
Thank you!
I can’t juice potatoes in my juicer so we’ve never tried that one. I have learned the hard way that some veggies don’t taste as great in juice form as they do in veggie form, and the kids will rebel if I juice certain veggies! 🙂 I’ve actually got a post about juicing for kids you can see here: https://staging.carrieelle.com/2014/07/juicing-for-kids.html That might give you some ideas and fun recipes to try!
