Last night, I made this 21 Day Fix dinner and my whole family ate it (well, let me be honest – we removed the peppers and onions for the kids…but they liked the meat!). It was a huge hit with Charles, and it will be going into our dinner rotation for sure – this is one of my favorite Instant Pot meals yet.
This 21 Day Fix Instant Pot Philly Cheesesteak is another recipe from Chellie over at Art From My Table. She’s always coming up with good stuff, and this one is no exception.
21 Day Fix Instant Pot Philly Cheesesteak
This recipe is really easy to make – it all takes place in one magical pot (except for toasting your buns – and this wouldn’t be the same without a little bun toasting, wink wink).
READ THIS FIRST: This recipe was made using a 6qt Instant Pot. If your pot is larger, you’ll need to adjust accordingly.
Also, altitude can affect your cook time – here’s a really helpful post about how to adjust your pot for altitude.

21 Day Fix Instant Pot Philly Cheesesteak
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 2 onions sliced
- 2 green peppers sliced
- 2 garlic cloves minced or pressed
- 2 - 2 1/2 lbs top round steak sliced against the grain into strips
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup beef broth
- 6 Whole wheat hoagie rolls
- 6 slices of provolone cheese
Instructions
- Turn Instant pot on to saute’. Add oil, onions and peppers. Saute’ until tender, add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more. Turn off Instant pot.
- Remove the vegetables from Instant pot and set aside.
- Add beef to Instant pot, sprinkle with salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Add broth.
- Cover the pot, make sure it is in the ‘sealed’ position. Set manual pressure for 20 minutes. Allow to natural release for 10 minutes, then carefully turn the knob to vent and allow steam to escape.
- Place rolls on a sheet pan. Top them with steak, onions and peppers, and a slice of cheese. Place in the broiler for a few minutes until cheese is melted.
Container counts, per serving (I always round up to the nearest 1/4 container):
- 1 red
- 1 yellow (check your roll, though – this could count as 2 depending on the size of your roll…I actually had mine on half to keep it at 1 yellow)
- .5 blue
- .5 green

Hi old friend! I was just telling my husband that every time I see one of your recipes it makes my mouth water. Can’t wait to try this one. Our pressure cooker sees a lot of action in our busy kitchen so thank you for all the great new recipes!
Hey hey hey HI!! 🙂 This is my current verrrry favorite Instant Pot recipe.
I’m curious if I halved this recipe how long I would need to cook the meat?
Great question! I haven’t tried halving it, but I found this for you: https://www.hippressurecooking.com/halve-or-double-pcs/ That article says cook time will stay the same. 🙂
My pressure cooker says I need to always have at least 18 oz of fluids .. this recipe only has 1 cup of broth do I need to add more fluid or is it okay to just have 1 cup
I have only ever used one cup, but you could certainly use more if your pressure cooker calls for it and be okay!
What about crock pot cook time? 😬
I haven’t made it in a crock pot, so I can’t say for sure…but this would definitely work in the crock pot! I would use the guidelines from a similar recipe for the amount of time it needs to be cooked.
