Hey. Dallas! It’s been awhile since I’ve written something just for my Dallas readers, and with summer upon us, it seems like a good time. Because I know I’m not the only one looking for fun things to do in the Dallas area this time of year.

Things to do with Kids in Dallas this Summer

Visit the Perot Museum. With tons of fun summer activities, you can easily spend an entire day at the museum.

Visit Legoland Discovery Center, Pirate’s Cove and SeaLife Aquarium at Grapevine Mills. All located in the same place, you can spend an hour or two at the aquarium, an hour or two at Legoland. and another hour or two at the waterpark…and you never have to leave the mall!

Take a road trip! You don’t have to leave Texas, even. A trip to San Antonio, or Austin, or even Waco (it’s awesome that Waco is now a destination) are all within easy driving distance from Dallas.

This post was inspired by Chevy and the super fun Traverse. Chevy let me borrow a Traverse for a week, and we had so much fun with it. With tons of room (the kids could barely reach each other in the back seat, yay!) and lots of fun features (like wifi, satelite radio, and GPS), this was a great family car and it served us well for the week we had it.

In fact, I got to pick my kids up from the last day of school with the Traverse and they were stoked. Because it was the last day of school, yes…but also because FUN CAR!

Chevy Traverse

I wish we’d had a road trip planned around this fun ride – it would have been a great car to cruise around Texas with.

Another road trip option – head up to Carlton Landing in Oklahoma!

Go to a Rangers game. Baseball games are fun. You can get inexpensive tickets and make a day of it (although if you can. I’d totally upgrade to something shaded because SUMMER IN TEXAS).

See the wildlife! You have lots of options. Of course, we all love the Dallas Zoo. But you can also visit In-Sync exotics in Wylie, the Alligator Farm in East Texas, and Fossil Rim in Glen Rose

Go to the Arboretum. Yes, it’s hot as heck. But that means it’s also only $1 admission in August, so YAY!

Visit a waterpark! You have several choices. There are many Hawaiian Falls locations around Dallas. And of course, you have Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags, too!

Plan a staycation at Great Wolf Lodge. This would be my kids’ favorite thing to do. With an indoor water park, a crazy ropes course, and tons of family-friendly activities, this is sure to be a huge hit.

Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine

Visit the Video Game Museum in Frisco. Kids can play video games but you can feel good about it because it’s a museum.

Go to Six Flags. Yes, it’s hot. And it can be crowded. But it’s summer, and it’s Six Flags, and there’s actually a lot to do there for kids of every age. If you get there right when it opens, or come later in the evening, you’ll miss out on some of the heat. And they have a bunch of new stuff that is worth checking out if you like roller coasters.
